About Us

Sneakers Pub and Eatery has quite a history in Spring Valley

Sneakers is serving the community as a takeout full menu restaurant until quarantine is over. We are masked and following all recommended sanitary procedures.  All are welcome. Please call ahead and if you are ill or concerned, please call from the curb when you arrive and we will bring your order to you.

Sneakers tale goes back to the Crystal Bar reputedly owned by Marvin and Hazel Seamen in the 1950’s.

This establishment had a kitchen located where the porch currently sits. The business was sold to Mill and Marge Johnson in the early sixties. The new owners changed the name to the Crystal Lady. The Spring Valley Dam which created Lake George was built during the sixties boosting the population of single men. The men who came in to work on the dam often took one of the rooms above the bar. There was live piano entertainment and a stage in the back with a burlesque show for adult patrons. Some of our older customers remember trying to get a peek inside through the front door and being chased off. Many entertaining stories can be had while having a beer at the bar with our patrons during happy hour.

The dam was finished around 1968. At that time, Kathy Warwick took over the establishment and rebuilt the kitchen and removed the stage. The bar changed hands a number of times in the following years.

In 1996, Ruth Esenbock’s father asked her if she wanted to run a restaurant with him and they bought the establishment renaming it as Sneakers Pub and Eatery. The two created the Americana menu and the friendly atmosphere that makes Sneakers the popular family and community hangout it is today.

In the summer of 2018, Ruth decided to retire after years of keeping Spring Valley patrons happy and well fed for over 20 years. The Landin family purchased Sneakers and with Ruth’s help the Landins continued the wonderful tradition Ruth and her father created.

Today, Sneakers is pivoting during quarantine to add a four season porch where the tented porch used to be. When the quarantine restrictions are lifted, Sneakers will continue to support the community traditions Ruth established. This includes providing past popular activities such as Senior Lunch and Meals on Wheels which will run Tuesdays through Friday, as well as Tuesday afternoon euchre, book club, Spring Valley Hawks, and many others.

We proudly provide jobs and training and after school tutoring for as many of our own Spring Valley youth as we can.  Our restaurant welcomes and supports a comfortable environment for families and young people.

Come visit us all and enjoy Spring Valley, Lake George boating, swimming and camping, Crystal Caves, and all the other lovely spots the area has to offer.
